Joustaposition
People's Choice Award
Runner-up LevelUp 2017
Joustaposition is an award-winning party/sports game developed as part of So What? Studios, created as part of my university capstone. For this project, I served as lead level designer, as a game designer, and as a programmer throughout the 8-month development period, culminating in the LevelUp design showcase and publishing the game via Itch.io. I focused on development and implementation of core mechanics, level design, and documentation throughout the project.

Set in the far future, the world of Joustaposition finds itself bored with modern sports, and they turn to the past for a solution. Historians discover an ancient manual on medieval jousting - with half the pages missing. So, the blanks get filled in, resulting in a zany, ridiculous experience with robotic knights and rocket ostriches galore!
Joustaposition is a 2 player competitive split-screen game where players go head-to-head in a series of jousts:
-
On each pass, players use an input to move their shield around and make it harder for the opponent to hit
-
Otherwise focus on nailing the other player as close to the centre of their shield for maximum effect!
-
Between jousts, players try to hit quintains (jousting targets) to gain points and regenerate health.
-
The winner is the first player to un-"horse" the other, or the high scorer at the end of 4 bouts.
